LUNESIDE EAST
Planning consent for the first phase of 127 units was obtained in August 2007 and work on the assembly of the site is now under way.
Luneside East is a 6.5ha (16.06 acres) brownfield site next to the River Lune and a short walk from the city centre. Lancaster City Council and the Northwest Regional Development Agency are working with English Partnerships to regenerate this riverside site, supported by funding from the Lancaster & Morecambe Economic Development Zone programme.
Set on the historic St George's Quay, the redevelopment will provide an urban village, including 350 homes and 8,000m2 of commercial space for offices, shops, cafes and bars. There will also be access to high quality open spaces with walking and cycling routes.
CTP Ltd and Development Securities plc were appointed as development partners in November 2005. Planning consent for the first phase of 127 units was obtained in August 2007 and work on the assembly of the site is now under way.
